Goa police booked two policemen including an inspector for criminal conspiracy and corruption for their alleged nexus with drug peddlers. Deputy Inspector General of Police Ravindra Yadav said, police inspector Ashish Shirodkar and Constable Saish Pokle were booked under Section 120 B and 7, 11 and 12 of prevention of corruption act by the crime branch. Both the policemen were placed under suspension last week after an alleged drug peddler purportedly confessed on a spy-camera about his association with police working in the Anti Narcotic Cell (ANC). The crime branch arrested the alleged drug dealer, Yaniv Benaim alias Atala, an Israeli national for abetment of corruption charges. Yadav said Benaim was produced before the court and remanded to seven days police custody. “We are not going to spare anyone even if they are our own officers involved in the conspiracy,” the DIG said, adding “We are going to pursue this case very seriously”.
