The Trial Court on 10 March granted a five-day interim bail to Abdul Nasir Madani, who was behind bars for allegedly carrying out bomb blasts in Bangalore some years ago. Madani had requested the court to permit him attend the marriage ceremony of his daughter Shameera. As the news of his having granted bail broke out, thousands of people from different walks of life gathered at the banquet at Kottayam, Kerala, to have a close look of Madani. The reception he received was very similar to what has been seen in 2008 when he had been acquitted of Coimbatore serial bomb blasts. Mr. Madani heads People’s Democratic Party. Earlier, the Government of India had allowed two Italian marines charged with killing two Indian fishermen to visit their families on the occasion of Christmas Day last December.
