The Ahmedabad Sessions Court on March 14 permitted narco-analysis test of suspended DIG DG Vanzara and 12 others who are behind bars in connection with the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case. In an operative order, Additional Sessions Judge R.S Sharma allowed the revision petition of the State CID (crime) against a lower court order denying permission to conduct narco-analysis test.

According to a report, the Supreme Court is already seized of the matter of bail petition of two police officers who figure in the case, Dy. S. P, N. K Amin of the Gujarat Police and M.N. Dinesh, an IPS officer of the Rajasthan cadre. Earlier in January, the Gujarat High Court had pulled up the Ahmedabad Sessions Court for granting bail to the two and had cancelled it. The two then sought the intervention of the apex court. DIG Vanzara was head of the State’s Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) when Sohrabuddin was killed, allegedly in a fake encounter and whose wife Kauserbi also went missing subsequently. Sohrabuddin’s brother, Rubabudin has already filed an affidavit before the court to counter Vanzara’s bail petition.
