Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s political campaign is now on the peak, as the Assembly Election schedules have been announced in two phases from December 15 to 16. The Opposition Congress party leaders in the state have complained to the Election Commission, blaming that the BJP-ruled State government has spent more than Rs 7.5 crore for its star campaigner Modi before the Assembly elections.
The Opposition claimed that the State Government has played a tacit role by misusing the State based Vande T.V. Channel for its election campaign in the State. The Congress leaders also asked the State Election Commission to shut down the election campaign of Modi immediately, being cast by the state run channel network.
A recent media report revealed that six suspended leaders of the BJP would move to join hands with the Congress. The statements against their own party indicate that the BJP could be divided into two in the state. It is also believed that the former Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Keshubhai Patel along with his most loyal leader Kanshi Ram Rana would never participate in the BJP’s coming election campaign. In an attempt to attract the voters, a C.D. based on development plans and achievements in the State, has been released by the BJP, leaving out the Hindutva agenda by party policymakers.
