A state level inter-school Seethakathi tournament in Football, Basketball and Volleyball was organised by Crescent School at Vandalur in Chennai from 21 to 22 August. The best teams from Chennai and Kancheepuram districts were invited and 40 teams participated in this event.
Various teams displayed their skills in the tournament. Trophies with merit certificates and individual prizes were awarded to the winners and runners-up. The coaches were honoured with cash prizes.
Don Bosco Hr. Sec. School of Perambur was declared winner of Football and Volleyball while MCTM MHSS Purasawalkkam from Chennai won Basketball match. Crescent School, Vandalur emerged as runner-up of Football match while St. Peters Hr. Sec. School, Royapuram and Santhome Hr. Sec. School, Chennai were declared runners-up of Volleyball and Basketball matches respectively.
Besides, Wesley Hr. Sec. School, Royapettah; AJS Nidhi Hr. Sec. School, Alandur; and MLM Mamallan MHSS, Kancheepuram got III Place in Football, Volleyball and Basketball matches respectively. And, NSN MHSS, Chitlapakkam, Chennai; Santhome Hr. Sec. School, Chennai; and Crescent School, Vandalur got IV Place in Football, Volleyball and Basketball matches respectively.
The tournament was inaugurated by Dr. Abdul Latheef, an alumnus of Crescent School. Mr. Robin Charles Raja, ‘A’ Licence Coach, Asian Football Federation and Ms. K. N. Manorama, Chief Regional Manager, Indian Overseas Bank, Kancheepuram were the chief guests for the prize distribution function. Mr. V.N.A. Jalal, General Manager Seethakathi Trust, felicitated the event while Mr. S. Yoosuf, Senior Principal, welcomed the gathering and Mr. Abraham John, Principal presented the report of the tournament. Mr. Mohammad Ayyub, Organising Secretary, proposed vote of thanks.
