It is indeed shocking that several tribal girl students were sexually assaulted by a government school teacher in EGS School, Bhopal. In another painful incident a group of girls ran away from a government-run residential school in Kandhamal district of Orissa after the headmaster had allegedly misbehaved with them. Both the incidents are a blot on the noble profession of teaching. Due to such moral debasement, heinous crimes have become the order of the day. Needless to add that after these felonious happenings, parents are in a state of turmoil as to where to get their children educated. These incidents are so alarming that people have lost faith in Guru-Shishya relationship. The government must take stern action against the culprits and ensure deterrent punishment to them.
