One of the greatest bounties of Allah to humanity is sending of countless Prophets and Messengers who came all over the world in different ages. This culminated in raising of the last and the greatest Messenger of God, Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be to him) in the 7th century.
His mission was to teach, and purify and reform the thoughts and actions of people, establish God’s rule over their hearts and minds, and to make the divine way of life dominant on earth, and also to make a lasting arrangement for providing guidance to succeeding generations of humanity in their ever changing circumstances. This guidance, which is available to every human being is the greatest gift and mercy of Almighty God. Divine Mercy can be achieved only through pursuing Divine Guidance, which has been made accessible through the book of lasting guidance, the Holy Qur’ān and the illustrious example of the Last Prophet.
He completed his mission within the amazingly short period of 23 years, with very limited means at his command and in the harshest imaginable atmosphere. The mission he accomplished had the capacity of guiding all people in future. His high moral character, tireless struggle, inspiring leadership and skilful management of the masses brought about a revolution, the like of which the world never saw. He promoted human values of permanent importance, which would never lose their importance.
In his last sermon on the occasion of his last pilgrimage which he delivered in Arafat, he told the believers to bear witness to the whole world up to the end of time. He reminded them to spread the divine truth and never fail in this fundamental duty. He further reminded that he had done his duty of conveying the divine message and they should do their duty faithfully in future.
Dawah or calling the people of the world to the Religion of Truth is the fundamental duty of believers. If we don’t do justice to this duty as individuals and as a community, we would be committing a grievous sin.
Radiance Viewsweekly is reminding its readers through this special issue about the divinely ordained duty of calling people to the path of God. May our efforts bear fruits and may this issue encourage the Ummah to become a beacon of faith in the dismal darkness of doubt and disbelief.
