Election Commission should further modify rules regarding declaration of assets and wealth by candidates entering poll-fray. Most candidates declare very low value of properties as compared to market-value, perhaps being related to date of acquirement. To remove all confusions, rule should be to also provide approximate market-value of properties at time of filing nomination in addition to that as on acquiring the properties.

In case market-value seems to be undervalued, then the Government should have right to purchase the property by paying 10 per cent above the declared market-value as is the provision in Income Tax Act.
