At a time when Delhi and Jharkhand Police claimed to have busted an alleged militant group by arresting two Kashmiris, the crackdown on Kashmiri youths living outside the state has also tightened.
Especially in New Delhi, Delhi Police has launched massive crackdowns and enquiries related to Kashmiri youth, certainly making it uneasy for the youths especially thousands of Kashmiri students who study in universities outside the state. A student of M.Tech, Jamia Hamdard University, Hakim Aijaz, originally from Kashmir was released of his detention at Tughlaqabad extension Police Station after days of torture and trauma.
On the Feb. 27 night, Aijaz who stays in a rented flat outside his University campus had some Kashmiri friends as guests at his place. Some men in uniform, who Aijaz’s landlord said were policemen entered into the building, and asked Aijaz and his friends to accompany them. It is only after the Jamia Hamdard staff and students lodged their protests one of his friends was released. However, for three days, the nearby police station officials refused to even file the missing report of Aijaz and his friends and even denied that they were arrested.
