Deoband is going to add a new feather in its cap by introducing translation of the Holy Qur’ān in the Sanskrit language and that too by a woman. Razia Sultana, 22, from a well educated Muslim family, who completed her master degree in Sanskrit from Chaudhury Charan Singh University, Meerut has already started this noble task. She has long cherished a dream to translate the Qur’ān into Sanskrit and with the same intention she completed her Masters, reports Muhammadullah Khalili Qasmi in Eastern Crescent. The report says that she was inspired to venture into this noble work by her grandfather Prof. Muhammad Sulaiman, a Hindi writer and translator who translated the Qur’ān and wrote its tafseer in the Hindi language in collaboration with Maulana Arshad Madni, Professor of Hadith at Darul Uloom Deoband. Razia Sultana is using this translation as a base for her Sanskrit version. She has already completed the translation of more than one part.
