Lest you level any motivated and malicious charge against me, let me make it clear, I have no first hand information on the Devdasis, Sanyasins, Brahmakumaris and Sadhvis.
Devdasi is a dying institution now. So why should I hasten their timely demise.
For a study on Brahmakumaris, I will have to go to Mount Abu in Rajasthan, where happens to be my susral or in-laws-house. How can I express my intention to go to the Brahmakumaris or discuss, even refer to them, which to many is a sensitive subject?
The Sanyasins are usually found, they say, in the Himalayas. That is perhaps, why Ms Uma Bharti, after each and every demonstration of her temper, goes to the Himalayas. The greater her critic or antagonist, the longer her stay in the salubrious environs. After exchanging swords with Mr. L.K. Advani, the Sadhvi spent quite a long time there.
Another Sadhvi I know as a pressperson is Ms Sadhvi Rithambhara. She has no second. Currently she is being seen in certain dhaarmik or religious channels. She has no second in using intemperate, high-decibel, abusive language against the second largest minority of plural Bharat. But the truth is her unprintable words lack in passion as no woman, for natural reasons, can lend force to abuses. She is simply helpless or incapable. That Section 153 (A) has not been made for the likes of the less-than-elegant ladies, is another story. Her eyes, like all the successful actors and actresses, speak. After the destruction of Babri Masjid, her cassettes were sold like hot but stale cakes. This is the right time, on the part of Saffron, to call her to defend her ideological sister, Ms Pragya Singh Thakur.
The lady in question, Sadhvi Poornachetnananda Giri is a class by herself. She is educated, she is an activist. She is an organiser. She is smart, flamboyant and swash-buckling as the knights were of the England of the yore. Now she has added to the already long list of her qualifications. She is an outlaw also.
Once she succeeded in impressing an IPS officer of Madhya Pradesh, or getting him impressed by her. What followed is usually followed in all such cases. But her father, Mr. Chandrapal Singh Thakur assets she has been refusing to be married when she was four. Four? Does a 4-year old know what marriage is? May be as a born-Sadhvi she knew! I am not qualified to join issues with her or her revered father, who had initially disowned his boisterous daughter and asserted “action should be taken against her if she was guilty.”
Later on, the father in Mr. Chandrapal Singh got awakened. In this awakening, money for Ms Pragya’s legal defence pouring in from the RSS, VHP and Bajrang Dal too should have played its role. Therefore, now as an affectionate, ever forgiving father, Mr. Chandrapal has started literally worshipping his illustrious daughter. Now Ms. Pragya’s photo, or may be idol, finds space in the house-temple along with the gods and goddesses her tormented father worships. To quote him: “I pray to the truth in her and her sacrifice for protection of the religion. Due to her dedication and sacrifice, she is far ahead of me. I pray that she succeeds in her endeavours.” The Sadhvi was arrested recently for her alleged role in the Malegaon blast that had killed six people on September 29.
Her adherence to truth, her dedication and sacrifices can be well understood from the huge amount of money she and her admirers spent on the procurement of the RDX used in the various explosions. Sourcing the RDX is not as easy as sourcing the material for make-up of a fashionable and formidable lady.
A witness quotes her: “If my vehicle was used, why did so few die? Why didn’t you park the vehicle in a crowd?” To which Ramji is quoted as saying: “They didn’t let me park it in a crowd.”
