Former Director General of Police of Gujarat R B Sreekumar has submitted a CD of a recorded conversation to the special investigation team (SIT) claiming that an IAS official had threatened him not to depose against the state before the Nanavati Shah Commission probing the Gujarat riots. Sreekumar submitted the evidence in connection with a probe on the alleged involvement of Chief Minister Narendra Modi and some of his former cabinet colleagues, besides senior IAS and police officials, in the 2002 riots. The probe was ordered on a complaint filed by slain Congress MP Ehsan Jafri’s widow Zakia Jafri.
