Vipin Bilauha, former district convener of the cow protection cell of BJP, has been charged under Slaughter of Cow-progeny Act along with his two accomplices, ML Jain and Kandhi Yadav in Bhopal. Bilauha and his accomplices were transporting around 150 cows for slaughter from Badagaon to Ganiyari when they were stopped about 35km from Katni. Rajesh Hingankar, Superintendent of Police, Katni, reportedly said they were involved in facilitating illegal transport of cattle across the borders. Earlier, Bilauha and other Bajrang Dal activists used to raid vehicles to check if they were carrying cows for slaughter. There were complaints about their being involved in irregularities like charging money to allow passage of cows meant for slaughter. Madhya Pradesh amended the legislation last year making cow slaughter punishable with 7-year jail term.
