The DMK government will never allow the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in Tamil Nadu.Chief Minister MK Stalin said recently that T.N.will never implement the act, which he said, is against Muslims and Sri Lankan Tamils. He said that the DMK protested against the act when they were in opposition and AIADMK was in government.

“I give assurance to the people that we won’t let Citizenship Amendment Act set foot in Tamil Nadu,” Stalinsaid in a post on X (formerly Twitter), reacting to Union Minister of State SantanuThakur’s remarks that the legislation will be implemented across the country in a week. He also criticized the AIADMK, then an ally of the BJP, for supporting the bill in RajyaSabha, when DMK was in the opposition.

“As soon as we came to power in 2021,we passed a resolution in the assembly demanding the withdrawal of CAA,” Stalin said.

An Unneeded Row

The national flag demands priority over any other flag and the controversy over the hoisting of a Hanuman Flag in Mandya (Karnataka) is no doubt an unnecessary one. The Tricolour is a symbol of our patriotism and national fervour and there should be no compromise as far as its numero uno position is concerned. Those behind creating such unneeded rows should realise that crores of Indians revere the national flag and love to hoist it on occasions like the Independence Day and the Republic Day.

Those attempting to play politics on this issue should be condemned severely.

Islamophobia

I read an article titled “Islamophobia has infiltrated the mainstream Indian media” by Mr. Abhay Kumar who is a Delhi-based eminent journalist.

I would like to put the following paragraphs therefrom to the notice of the readers of the Radiance.

“There is strong evidence to show that the communal discourse within India heavily borrows Orientalist tools. The content analysis of Boom Live over the years shows a persistent atmosphere of anti-Muslim discourse created and maintained by the Indian media and state-sponsored scholars.

Like the Orientalist discourse, the Islamophobic media creates a similar binary in India in which the majority Hindu community is shown to be “liberal”, “progressive”, “law-abiding”, “nationalist”, and “peace-loving”, while the minority Muslims are demonized as “backward”, “fanatic”, and “anti-national”, “violent”, “cruel”, “anti-women”, “lustful” and “untrustworthy”, who work as a burden for the nation.” (Source: The News Trail, Bengaluru dated January 2024)

It is for the learned readers to draw the conclusions from above.

South Africa Shows the Way

It is good that South Africa, which had borne the agony of Apartheid till a few years ago, has decided to take on Israel as the latter continues its murderous offensive in the Gaza Strip, killing more than 28,000 people.

With the United Nations proving to be a ‘TOOTHLESS TIGER’ when it comes to stopping conflicts which go against the interests of humankind, such efforts by individual countries are the only way out to stop the madness in Gaza where women and kids are the most hard hit by the violence and bombing. Every country for which humanitarian concerns are paramount, should support South Africa in its effort to stop this mindless war.
