It has been more than 11 years since we embarked the 21st century, yet there are many villages in our free India where electric bulb is an alien concept. Although in many parts of the country the development work has been done in full bloom, yet after 64 years of independence villages in India are still grappling with lanterns and candles. The villages that are yet to receive electricity include Chandpur, Maujepur, Jalalpur, Kheria, Sariya and others.
Because of this villagers are facing a lot of problems, especially in agricultural area where no modern techniques can be applied because of non-availability of electricity. Although electrification in the nearby villages has been done quite a long time ago, yet others are yet to see electricity. Leaders come and give assurance of electrification of villages during the time of election, but once they win the election, they forget about the village and the plight of its people. People have now decided to demand the electrification from the District Magistrate.
