Egypt has decided to ban all political activities in support of presidential candidates on university campuses, a report says. The Egyptian Supreme Council of Universities on February 15 banned any political activities of universities in support of presidential candidates on campuses. The student union at Cairo University supported the decision, saying it “will not allow any political side to use the university [as a platform] or drag it [into political conflicts] like other universities,” adding that whoever violates this decision will be punished. “Any activity or announcement that aims to publicise any parliamentary, presidential or political candidate will be prohibited,” the union said.
