The Egyptian government rejected a US suggestion of relocating more than 800000 Palestinians living in Gaza and sending them to live in the Sinai Peninsula, enraging Washington which is exercising heavy pressures on Cairo to endorse such a suggestion. The Egyptian side stressed rejecting the suggestion of sheltering Gaza citizens and Palestinians of Diaspora in Egyptian territories because this is fully in contravention to the UN-backed right to return. Egypt has, meanwhile, reiterated its full support to the Palestinians right to return to their territories. The Israeli side used the US aid as a bargaining chip threatening with working for stopping the US aid if Egypt maintains its tough attitude toward the suggestions of sending Palestinians into its territories.
