IACPDA (The International Anti-Coup Pro-Democracy Alliance) has commissioned a series of advertisements which started appearing in leading European newspapers, beginning with Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung on 14 October, 2013. In the winter of 2011, the entire world watched in awe as the Egyptian people rose peacefully and with dignity in a people’s revolution that ousted a dictatorship after three decades of tyrannical repression. Now, the world does not even watch – it turns its back – as a brutal military coup, headed by an unaccountable and corrupt junta reinstates a dictatorship worse than ever before.

In only 100 days following this coup and the kidnap of Egypt’s first democratically elected president, the junta have established emergency law and killed thousands of civilians killed, including women and children; arbitrarily arrested, imprisoned and tortured thousands of people (including foreign nationals); detained at least 140 minors and 240 women; rendered injured tens of thousands of innocent civilians injured; killed  6 Egyptian and international journalists; put under arrest 80 journalists; achieved a 23.3% rise in inflation since June 30 and loss of over one billion USD in the tourism sector.
