Mohammad Waseem, a first year engineering student of Dehradun Institute of Technology in Greater NOIDA was brutally beaten up allegedly by his classmates and seniors following an altercation over serving food in the hostel mess. Nine students have been expelled and one suspended after they were found guilty in an enquiry into the incident by college authorities. Four of those expelled are first year students. According to the reports Mohammad Waseem was going to have tea when some fellow students cornered him near the hostel gate. They allegedly kicked and punched him causing severe bruises. When the hostel authorities came to know about the incident, they admitted the boy to Astha Hospital in Alpha-III and informed his parents. A case was later registered against seven students for voluntarily causing hurt and criminal intimidation and three of them arrested. Those arrested have been identified as Shray, Vaibhav and Chetan. All of them are second year students.
