A former officer of the Indian Police Service from Gujarat Cadre, R.B. Sreekumar, on 19 November, filed a defamation complaint against BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, party president Rajnath Singh, spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi and former Indian Space Research Organisation scientist S. Nambi Narayanan at a court in Delhi allegedly for defaming him in ISRO espionage case.

Sreekumar claimed that the three senior leaders of the BJP allegedly entered into a conspiracy to defame and harm his reputation. As per the complaint, Mr. Modi, on September 9 this year, met Mr. Nambi Narayanan in Kerala and hatched a conspiracy to defame him. The BJP leaders later alleged that Mr. Sreekumar had played into the hands of Central Intelligence Agency and had also called him ‘anti-national’ and ‘traitor.’ The ISRO espionage case dates back to 1994. That time, Sreekumar was serving in Central Investigation Bureau as Dy. Director.
