The exhibition of Islamic and Qur’ānic calligraphy was held at Jamia Millia Islamia in the national capital from 11 to 16 March. Five artists presented their various works in the exhibition and displayed the verses of the Holy Qur’ān, the names of Allah and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be to him) and some poems of renowned Urdu poet Allama Iqbal in a unique calligraphic style. Some artists presented the old and new versions of Ka’ba as well. An artist, Nasiruddin Waqar, prepared Babe Ka’ba (gate of the Ka’ba) from five thousand pieces of twigs and small sticks. The exhibition was jointly organised by the Hyderabad based Urdu daily Siyasat, and Dr. Zakir Hussain Institute of Islamic Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia.
