It refers to the welcome statement in Lok Sabha by Union Minister Prithviraj Chavan expressing government’s desire to bring more organisations under Right to Information Act which were till now exempted from RTI Act under its second schedule. But in an era of free economy where all essential services including banking, communications, education, etc. are dominated by private-sector with lots of malpractices, it has become necessary to bring private sector under purview of RTI Act to impose accountability and transparency in the private sector. Private sector is already covered by RTI Act in countries like South Africa.
Private Banks and telephone-operators are badly harassing and looting their customers by gimmick and unfair means with no action or reply coming on communications addressed to them. It seems that concerned government agencies and regulatory-bodies controlling private bodies reach on some under-table understanding for public being harassed by allowing private-sector to mint money at cost of their consumers.
