Can a legal expert decide as to how to do a surgical procedure on a patient? No. It should be left to the surgeon to decide on such a matter. Can a surgeon decide as to how a 30-storey building should be erected? No. A civil engineer / architect would better handle such a matter. Why then we hold the view that members of judiciary are experts on all subjects? More importantly, why members of judiciary consider themselves competent enough to legalise homosexuality which, in all societies and in all religions is considered extremely harmful and sinful from social and health points of view? Why don’t they show the wisdom to invite opinions from medical and religious experts on such matters and give due consideration to what they have to say on these matters? Could it be without any sound reasons that all societies and all religions dealt with such perversions with iron hand? If holding homosexuality a criminal offence is an outdated concept and against basic human rights, why can’t the same twisted logic be applied to various other crimes also?
Newspapers like The Times of India seem to be thrilled at the idea of homosexuality. They consider it nothing short of a ‘revolutionary concept’. A newspaper that tries to sell itself with soft-porno pictures spread all over its inner pages can’t do anything better than that.
