A beauty centre in Johor Baru, Malaysia, was ordered to refund a Singaporean woman RM1,350 when a faulty machine caused her to suffer dry burns during her facial. Consumer Claims Tribunal president Rungit Singh also ordered the salon to pay Noraini Bujang’s RM50 medical fee. He held the beauty centre responsible as the medical report was dated the same day Noraini had her facial treatment, proving that she had sought medical treatment following the injuries.

The 53-year-old housewife told the tribunal that she had gone to the salon with her three daughters and had signed up for a few facial treatment packages. While undergoing a facial procedure, Noraini said she heard strange sounds from the machine and soon after, it sprayed hot water onto her forehead.
