Around a year back when the government came with the proposal of FDI in retail, almost everyone opposed the move. The government then put the issue on the backburner saying that there is no consensus among the parties. However, now, when the government is hell-bent on bringing FDI, I wonder whether there is any consensus today? The forceful implementation of FDI must compel us to think whether the sovereignty of the nations is a myth. Can any country take its own decisions or it has no option, but to give in to the international pressure even at the cost of its own citizens.
