This refers to the article “When to speak and when not to” by M. Rafat (Radiance 9-15 June). The writer has covered almost all aspects of the topic in a very simple way. In fact, talking unnecessarily makes a person valueless but being tight-lipped when it is unavoidable to speak also takes away one’s prestige. It has become common practice in our society that we remain calm even when our neighbour suffers a lot in some false cases. Also, using indecent language in an informal talk is no longer a bad thing in our society. We see films and TV serials are hell bent to promote vulgarity through indecent and abusive language.
