Taking note of bosses in anti-corruption department indulging in corrupt practices, a city court on December 3 ordered registration of a criminal case against joint commissioner of police (Vigilance) and against suspended special commissioner of police (anti-corruption). The two are accused of implicating a crime branch inspector and two police officers in a false corruption case by forging investigation records. Exposing the corruption racket run by the top bosses of vigilance department and anti-corruption department in conspiracy with four other police officials, chief metropolitan magistrate Vinod Yadav said, “Being at the helm of affairs in their respective departments, the officials abused their position to frame inspector K G Tyagi and two police officers in corruption case.” An FIR was registered against Tyagi in 2008 for allegedly extorting R26 lakh from one Abhinav Aggarwal in lieu of making a criminal case registered against his father weak in court. Aggarwal had carried out a sting operation and handed over the CD to the anti-corruption department.
