Five Palestinian peace activists were wounded on June 17 by Israeli forces during weekly anti-separation wall rallies in various West Bank villages. Palestinian sources said that three Palestinians were wounded by Israeli soldiers in the village of Bil’in to the west of Ramallah. The sources said that Rabei’ Turkman and Issa Abu Rahmeh were wounded in their hands by tear gas canisters. The sources said that teenager Moussa Yassin was wounded when a tear gas canister hit his face.
The sources added that several Palestinian, Israeli and international peace activists also suffered from gas inhalation. The wounded received medical treatment at the site, the sources said. The Bil’in Popular Committee Against the Wall and Settlements said that American director James Shamus, Palestinian officials, representatives of Palestinians factions and village’s residents participated in the weekly rally. Mohammed Braijeyeh, the spokesman of Popular Committee Against the Wall and Settlements in Bethlehem, said that the two activists were wounded by rubber-coated bullets Israeli soldiers fired against the demonstrators in Al-Mi’sarah village.
