People of Forbesganj, who have been demanding justice for the past two months, celebratedEidas Black Day this year. The horrific firing that happened at Forbesganj in which a 6-month-old infant and a pregnant woman died, was a sheer sign of brutality and injustice that normally the poor and non-influential people face here; but what is happening now is adding more and more insult to the injury. Haji Usman, president of Forbesganj Police Firing Victims Action Committee, said the administration is not taking any actions regarding opening the road; however 45 people of the village have been booked under Article 107 of the Indian Penal Code. Haji Usmanallegedl that the local police first asked the villagers to fill in the dug up road, but when they did that, they implicated 45 people. Hence the people have now decided that as a protest they will not go to the EidGaah (an open place where the namaaz of Eid takes place) and will be displaying the black bands on the arms to show discontent and protest. Mr. AshfaqAlam, General Secretary of Social Welfare Organisation for Regional Development said that the road which has been closed for the villagers is the only road which connects the village and enough proofs are available that the road is built on the land that belongs to the villagers and not to anyone else. Hence digging of the road is not only illegal, but is also a criminal offence.
