The Central Bureau of Investigation, on 27 November, submitted its report on cold-blooded encounter killing of a 20-year-old Gujarati boy on 13 January. The report mentions names of four Mumbai cops — Pradeep Sawant, Pradeep Sharma, Daya Nayak and Sanjeev Gawde — as co-authors of the crime. Once the report is cleared by Bureau’s senior officials, it will be considered to be supplementary charge-sheet in the case.
Meanwhile, Sawant is deputed as Deputy Commissioner of Police with Maharashtra Anti-Terrorist Squad, Nayak is a sub-inspector at police control room (West region) Mumbai, Gawde is Assistant Police Inspector at Mumbai Crime Branch and Sharma is facing suspension due to his role in the encounter of Ram Narayan Gupta alias Lakhan Bhaiya in Mumbai. Jamal was shot dead in Naroda area of Ahmedabad, Gujarat, by a crime branch team of Ahmedabad following a tip-off that he was on his way to kill Narendra Modi and other senior leaders of BJP and VHP, a ploy that the Hindutva brigade employs to sustain power even after misdeeds as is evident in the case of Gujarat.
