From God-particle To God The Almighty

There are more things in the heaven and around us than we see, think and imagine. Facts are more fascinating than fiction and imagination.

There was a time when atom was considered the smallest indivisible unit of matter. Then we came to know about the world inside atom containing electrons, protons and neutrons. When we descended deep into the bowels of atom we discovered more subatomic particles. Physicists believe that matter, created through Big Bang 1.366 billion (or 1,366 crore) years ago, is made of 12 subatomic particles and six force careers. One of them, Higgs boson, gives matter mass and holds the universe together. Because of its fundamental importance in the structure of atom and the role it plays in universe it has been nicknamed the “God-particle”. As a believer in the existence of God as the Creator, Master and Ruler of the vast universe, we will like to call it God’s particle (not God-particle) because it appears to be the most important particle in atom playing the most significant role by providing mass to atoms. British physicist Peter Higgs presented the theory in the 1960s about the God particle as a way of explaining why other particles have mass.

Now thousands of scientists who laboured for decades at CERN on Swiss-French border have conclusively concluded that this Higgs boson particle or God’s particle really exists without which there would be no gravity and no universe. The scientists successfully smashed protons at the speed of 99.9999991 per cent of speed of light and produced and observed God’s particle. The God’s particle, produced by the scientists, survived for less than a millionth of a billionth of a billionth of a second before decaying. And God Almighty exists for billions, trillions and centillions of years. Actually He has no beginning and no end (Huwal Awwalu wal Aakhir). He is the inventor of matter and energy and the whole creation, and one word “BE” was enough for Him to create the cosmos. The mind-boggling discoveries of modern science will continuously enhance our understanding of the cosmos and lead us towards accepting His Greatness, Exaltedness, Uniqueness, Majesty and Glory. He had rightly said in the Holy Qur’ān over 1400 years ago:

“Soon shall We show them Our Signs on the horizons and in their own beings until it becomes clear to them that it is the Truth. Is it not enough that your Lord is a witness over everything.” (41:53)
