A Decade of Arab Revolutions and Palestine

When the popular genie surfaced in late 2010, the Palestinians were divided over the Arab revolutions. At the official level, the leadership in Ramallah took a neutral position, but all the factions supported revolutions in Tunisia, Egypt, Yemen and Bahrain, but opposed it in Syria and Iraq. They claimed that these revolutions were a conspiracy against the countries and forces of the resistance. After the revolutions turned into civil or proxy wars, these factions or most of them, along with elites, came up with miserable analysis that these revolutions are from abroad meant for creating chaos in the Middle East region. This analysis had duality which ignored oppressed and revolutionary Arabs as well as their anger and aspirations.

With the success of counterrevolutions and divisions among Arab countries, the stubbornness of those who have come to such conclusions has increased. This triumph is temporary. Such conclusions have practically served all tyrannical (inherited) national republics, monarchies and princely rules. It helped deceitful Oslo accord which accepted the role of colonial proxy. During all this, the voice of the Palestinian elites remained inaudible and was not strong. The present time is an opportunity we should re-look into it, learn and prepare with our Arab brothers for a long road of liberation. We must come up with comprehensive and sound vision for liberation. Liberation of Arabs can help Palestinians achieve independence.

Options for Netanyahu

Every passing day, internal crisis in the Zionist entity (Israel) is worsening. What this country is facing now is considered one of the biggest travails it has gone through since the announcement of its establishment on the land of Palestine. Corona has exposed all lacunas in this state, its politics, economy, society, and culture. No sector is left untouched except its military and security apparatus which has continued to work with all its capacities as in the past.

The Israeli society, which has contradictions and has rather divergent backgrounds, is collectively engaged in military and security establishment. This institution has had played a biggest role in shaping various aspects of life inside the country. These are the rules which govern the behaviour and practices inside this institution for this kind of performance. Otherwise with this level of diversity and contradictions, this would not have been possible. This is precisely what is happening now inside Israel, until the health crisis has become the focus. It is entering into one crisis after other. Today, it is more exposed to the conflicting currents. Even the extreme racist right, which is considered most solid electoral base, is getting isolated. Successive opinion polls have shown a sharp decline in the popularity of new fascist right leader Naftali Bennett. This will force Netanyahu to choose between staying on his usual course which he treated since last 30 years or change it.
