For the past 20 years Muslims of Goa have been demanding a place for graveyard (Qabristan), but still the land for the graveyard is out of sight. Mullah Saleem, a social activist, has been running from pillar to post, visiting offices of high officials ranging from governor to Prime Minister, but all in vain. Although in the year 2008 the Panchayat allocated the land, the local administration did nothing to develop the land.

The demand for the land started in the year 1991 when the old graveyard situated in the hilly area reached saturation. Saleem even knocked at the door of Minority Commission, but that too did not bring any positive results. Saleem went ahead and said that the Minority Commission is an absolutely failed organisation as it cannot put pressure to carry out its own recommendations. Finally as the last resort, Saleem has moved the Supreme Court for justice.
