GOOD QUALITY BORNEO HONEY BEES

Malaysians have a wrong perception that local honey is inferior to the imported variety when the country in fact produces some top quality honey. The honey produced in Sabah, for example, is not polluted by industry or agriculture, said scientist Dr Gudrun Koeniger, who along with her husband Dr Nikolaus Koeniger have been studying honey bees in the state for more than 22 years. The couple and state Agriculture Department research officer Salim Tingek have compiled their research into a book titled Honey Bees of Borneo, published by Natu-ral History Publications (Borneo) Sdn Bhd. The book was launched by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Yahya Hussin yesterday.
