This refers to the special issue “Governance in Early Islamic Period” (Radiance, 2-8 March). The issue was published when it was needed the most. As India will elect a new government very soon, this special issue, if the parties feel, may help them provide governance where accountability towards people and the constitutional institutions holds the key. People’s interest should be above all and there should not be discrimination towards any community or group. It can certainly help the new government in power to derive out the fine prints of the governance followed during the early Islamic period and formulate guidelines for their own style of functioning where there is justice, liberty and fair practice in governance.
