A consortium of Muslim organisations under the banner of Coordination Committee for Indian Muslims (CCIM) on January 27 organised a protest march at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi against the targeting of Muslims by the government. Convener Ulema Council Maulana Aamir Rashadi informed that huge number people between 10,000 and 15,000 rushed into the national capital to demonstrate against the government’s attitude towards the people of Azamgarh in particular and Muslims in general. Students Union leaders of different universities also participated in the protest.

According to the Vice President of Indian Minorities Youth Association, Mr. Shahnawaz the purpose is that the government must immediately stop harassing Muslims and it should agree to a judicial enquiry into the Batla House Encounter. He further added that in the name of fighting terrorism the government is annihilating Muslims. It is difficult for the Muslim youths to venture outside because they fear being picked up by the police. Mr. Tasleem Rahmni of Muslim Political Council of India (MPCI) maintained that it was an organised conspiracy of the government officials against the Muslims. Government is not fighting terrorism rather it has waged a war against Muslims, the alleged.
