Acting Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Maqbul Ahmed, in a statement on December 31 accused the government of killing the opposition leaders particularly the high ups of Jamaat-e-Islami selectively. He urged the countrymen to build up peaceful resistance against the political killing by the government. He also recalled the political murders of BJI leaders including Abdul Quader Mollah, Dr. Foyez Ahmed, Anwarul Islam, Abdul Jobbar, etc.

“I vehemently condemn the incidents of political murder…. The nation will not be freed from the mass killing, widespread terrorism and abduction, torture and repression and mass arrest unless the incumbent autocratic government is ousted,” he said.
