The grey areas in the once contentious Islamic Family Law in Malaysia have been resolved and the Bill is ready to be tabled in Parliament, said Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil. The adviser on Women and Social Development to the Prime Minister said from what she heard, the women’s groups were also happy with the final draft. “Everybody was given a chance to give their input and Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail has taken everything into consideration and the issues that the women were not happy about have been resolved,” she told reporters after the launch of three publications to mark the opening of the Musawah Global Movement for Equality and Justice in the Muslim Family. Shahrizat said that from what she understood, the Cabinet had also given the go-ahead.
