This refers to the Editorial (Radiance 16-22 June). Turkey is one of the fastest emerging nations with Muslims in majority. Recently, it has emerged as an important member of European Union and democracy in the country got deep rooted during the last decade. It has returned almost all the debts borrowed from different international organisations. This increasing popularity of Erdogan has pushed the Kemalists into deep distress. Therefore, they along with their western allies are conspiring against the Erdogangovernment. Finding no base to construct their ‘building of opposition’ upon, the paid perpetrators are raising issues like opening of bars till late night, banning public display of religious symbols like Burqa and allowing abortion. It is pertaining to note here that any religious symbol is already banned in government offices and that is why the Burqa-clad Erdogan’s wife does not accompany her husband in office.
