Dr. Ajay Patel, president of Bajrang Dal, Harsudwas taken into custody by a crime branch team from Ahmedabad, Gujarat on Wednesday in connection to a 25-year-old look incidence that was reported in the Navsari area of Gujarat.
Gujarat Police claim that Dr. Patel was residing in Harsud under a false identity. He is a native of Dhulia district of Maharashtra and goes by the alias Hansraj Jatav and Motilal Hari Singh. He was arrested in the Gujarati police station in Navsari under Section 398 of the IPC (dacoity when armed with lethal weapon).
For 25 years, Gujarat Police searched for the culprit, Motilal Hari Singh. Meanwhile, there was uproar in the region following the late-night arrest of Bajrang Dal head Dr. Patel on the day of his arrest.
According to inspector K Sisodia of Gujarat Crime Branch, Motilal is originally a resident of village Bhatpure, tehsil Sherpur, district Dhulia of Maharashtra. The raid was conducted on the basis of information that accused Motilal was in Harsud and Killod area of Khandwa district. The accused was living there under a changed name.
