The Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, Mr. Nusrat Ali has termed the death of former Prime Minister Mr. Inder Kumar Gujral as a big tragedy for the country. He expressed deep condolences at the demise of Gujral who embodied great human values like human love and tolerance and was a great lover of Urdu.
“It was his love for humanity that he tried tirelessly for promotion of peace and mutual cooperation among neighbouring countries,” said Mr. Ali in a statement. “He raised voice for the rights of Urdu and maintained strong and close relations with Urdu organisations, literary persons, poets and journalists,” the Jamaat leader further said.
“Gujral sahib had good contact with late Mohd Muslim, Editor of Urdu biweekly Dawat and would give respect to his suggestions on national and community issues,” Mr. Nusrat Ali said. He had deep interest with Muslim issues, and so he was a regular reader of English weekly Radiance Viewsweekly.
