The Washington DC based human rights organisation India Hate Lab (IHL) has shocked the civilized world through its 2025 Report on hate in India. It says that communal and fascist forces are pushing India into a vortex which may lead to genocide and fully destroying it. The main thrust of hate speeches targeted the Muslim community. Next the Christians were the target.

Known genocides like those of Germany (1940s) and Rwanda (1990) had their origin in hate-filled words, which paved the way for violence, which ultimately led to genocides and destruction. The report has documented the 10 worst hatemongers; five most prominent among them are Pushkar Singh Dami, Chief Minister of Uttarakhand (71 hate speeches), Pravin Togadia, a BJP leader (46 hate speeches), Ashwini Upadhyay, a BJP leader and Supreme Court advocate (35 hate speeches), Nitesh Rane, a BJP leader from Maharashtra (28 hate speeches), and T. Raja Singh, a BJP leader from Telangana (27 hate speeches). The report details how hate is being built on the basis of false allegations, twisted facts and open lies.

The Muslims, who are about 15 per cent of Indian population and whose contribution to building and consolidating India during the last 1000 years, have been presented as a potential danger for the much-touted Hindu rashtra. They are being accused of being a potential danger for the country. The cases of demonization of Muslims have been documented in great detail. The entire community is being presented as a burden on the country’s resources and economy. They are being accused of all sorts of jihads like land jihad, love jihad, IAS jihad, even thook jihad. Every effort is being made to tarnish the community as a burden on the country and as a ‘fifth columnist’. They are being criticised openly and, in some cases, covertly shown as anti-India (deshdrohis). Most of the hate speeches and communal attacks are happening in BJP-ruled states called “double-engine governments”. There are clear proofs that the police have been acting as a partisan force against Muslims. Last week BBC Urdu TV telecast a report on how Muslims are being targeted. Police is lodging false FIRs when they collectively offer prayers in a home of a Muslim.

It is the bad fortune for India that from the highest seats of governance, we have heard sentences like, they are ‘infiltrators’, ‘they produce too many children’, ‘they will snatch mangal sutra of your women’, etc. These hate-filled words, actions and policies pose a great danger to the unity, integrity and harmony of the country. Unfortunately, a section of the judiciary also is silent on this hatemongering. It is the duty of all well-wishers and honest citizens to join hands to save India from these negative and anti-national activities of hatemongers. Otherwise India would destroy itself.
