The Gauhati High Court, on 30 April, issued notices to the Government of Assam, the Board of Secondary Education, Assam, and the principal of KristoJyoti School in Bokakhat, Assam, asking them as to why the petition against them not entertained. The court has given them a four-week time to reply.
Earlier, the school had written to the parents of a nursery student asking them to remove her scarf or instead not to send her to the school. Following the order of the school, Ms. Alee Ahmed, mother of the girl resorted to move the High Court on 8 April pleading it to get the orderannulled.
