Mirza Himayat Baig, who has been convicted in German Bakery Blast case, has recently written to the judges of Bombay High Court, pleading them to let his case reinvestigated by the National Investigation Team. His letter reads, “I did not get an opportunity to present my case in the trial court…the ATS kidnapped me and kept me in illegal detention… for 19-20 days. I was subjected to inhuman torture. Electric shock was given to my private parts…the ATS took my signatures on several blank papers. At the moment, I was in such a condition that I would have signed on my suicide note if one had asked for the same.” It further added, “The lawyer visited me only once in jail. I asked for the charge-sheet and each time he refused…I tried to bring various points on record through my lawyer but he never listened to me.” The lawyer for Baig was arranged by the ATS itself and he was asked not to hire another lawyer.
