Mohd.Haneef, a resident of Dharam Mooli village near Hata Kotwali under Sant Kabeer Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh, died on 19 June in the medical college of Gorakhpur. Reportedly he had been subjected to regular mental torture by the members of extremist Hindutva group, Hindu Yuva Vahini and local police. His daughter, Roubina, was abducted by the member of the group and forced to marry a Hindu boy and convert to Hinduism. She ditched them more than one time. Following which the father approached the local police only to listen the Circle Officer saying, “Leave her (the daughter) to them and the problem will be solved.” Reportedly, the members of the extremist group in the region have been active in abducting and marrying Muslim girls forcefully in order to change their religion. Surprisingly, no Muslim organisation seems to be taking interest in the matter.However, Rashtriya Ulema Council reportedly visited the area on 16 April in this regard.
