The Supreme Court of India is seized with the question of deciding whether homosexual relationship, long considered sinful and criminal by religion and society, should remain so or be legalised. The Government of India appears to be in two minds as is revealed by its contradictory stands.
How far the human thinking on moral issues has degenerated can be gauged by reading comments and editorials in newspapers in this regard. For some freedom in sex relations is a part and parcel of human freedom and unlimited freedom to consulting adults in sex affairs should be allowed.
Sex is one of the basic instincts bestowed upon the highest being, man, to use it to build his life in a responsible way. It can make or unmake, build or destroy his life depending on how he uses it. Both religion and nature teach, and reason confirms that sex should be utilised to cement the life-long relationship of a man and woman, with the knowledge and approval of society, enabling them to evolve a strong family which is the basic unit of society. It has been clearly stated in the Qur’ān that men and women have been created as complimentary to each other so that, as husband and wife, they may find love, comfort and solace from each other and the marriage may be a source of love, affection and mercy between them.
In Islam there is no room for any unnatural or same sex relationship. Likewise Christianity, Hinduism and other religions also disapprove of it. Homosexual and lesbian relationship is nothing other than perversion of highest order and is clearly against the scheme of God and rules of nature. It is sought and supported only by those whose moral sense has gone astray. Therefore it is high time that representatives of religion and right-thinking people oppose it tooth and nail. There should be no place in a civilized society for pre- and extra-marital, illegal and unnatural sex. The society which allows or tolerates unnatural or perverted sex shoots itself in both feet.
It is not the handful of perverts who are out to promote abominations like same sex relationship. The discredit for all forms of sexual perversions goes to worshippers of wealth who want to capture the minds and pockets of common people, especially the youth, by creating and promoting sexual hysteria. These people are responsible for promotion of vices and abominations to hypnotise people and make them indulge in immoral acts to extract money from them.
