Zionism is not a religious movement. Judaism is a religion and the majority of Jewish people are against the Zionist movement and its crimes against humanity. The Jews were around 7 percent in Palestine in the beginning of the 20th century. In a planned way, with the active support of British Empire and the Zionist movement, they increased their number to 33 percent in 1948. Later Israel was able to capture more territories. The newly found state adopted the policy of terrorist activities and massacres of the original inhabitants of Palestine.

The Zionists have a strong position in the US. They have a strong hold on media, film industry and financial institutions in the US. No person can become the President of America without the support of these Zionist elements. This is the reason for the present US administration’s solidarity with Israel. That is why immediately after October 7 attack, the US sent its two naval fleets to protect Israel. Joe Biden, who is seeking another term, first sent his Secretary of State Blinken and afterwards himself visited Israel and assured his fullest support to Israel’s war of extermination against the 23 lakh people of Gaza.

The US twice vetoed the US General Assembly resolution for cessation of Israeli war of annihilation in Gaza. The US and its allies always speak about the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas, but they have never condemned the war of attrition which has up to now claimed the lives of more than 10,000 innocent civilians of Gaza, including more than 3000 children and 2000 women. Almost 2000 buildings which housed about 25 percent Gazans have been mercilessly bombarded and reduced to rubble. Even hospitals, schools and religious places also have not been spared. Gaza is almost destroyed.

More than 36 journalists, and around 75 officials and workers connected with UNRWA have lost their lives in the indiscriminate bombardment of the Israeli forces. This unending bloodshed has raised a storm of protests all over the world. Human beings are basically human beings. Every city and town in the US have witnessed large public protests against the US involvement and support to Israel in its crimes against humanity in Gaza. Besides this, Israeli atrocities in the West Bank have also claimed hundreds of lives.

The things are changing and it is expected that the increasing pressure of public opinion will pave the way for a ceasefire in Gaza. However, it is to be seen how long the Palestinian people have to suffer. The situation in Palestine is a sad commentary on the inhuman policies of the western leaders. Mere lip service to democracy and human rights is not enough. Real and fundamental efforts for promotion of justice and equitable way of life are urgently required. The well-wishers of humanity and supporters of human rights, without any discrimination against any country or any segment of humans, must unite and strive for evolving a consensus for stopping hate, prejudice, discrimination, economic exploitation and war. Let the world start this with ensuring justice to Palestine and its people, who are suffering continuously in West Bank and presently in Gaza Strip. This is the responsibility of the entire world and more so of the neighbouring countries of Palestine and the western world also. The world should unite to establish a Palestine state as has been endorsed by several resolutions of the UN. This would be a solid step for solving the problem of Israeli atrocities and Palestinians’ continuous suffering.
