An Award for Academic Excellence Programme was organised by Human Welfare Foundation on Oct 30, in Lucknow. One hundred twenty shortlisted students, both girls and boys of U.P., who did well in their matriculation examinations, have been felicitated by award and cash prizes and congratulation from eminent personalities present in the function. Chief Guest of the function, Zafar Mahmood, Chairman Zakat Foundation, New Delhi, emphasised the importance of education and said through education even a poor person can gain top position in a society. The programme was chaired by Rafeeque Ahmed, Assistant Secretary, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind, who threw light on JIH and its associated NGOs working for the welfare of downtrodden sections of the society at a large level. He also gave introduction of Vision 2016 programme which has taken up several welfare projects for the minority community and has various affiliated NGOs including Human Welfare Foundation.
