Human Welfare Foundation, Assam Chapter has distributed as many as 30 cheques amounting Rs 175 lakhs to the poor and meritorious students of Assam who are studying in various social science disciplines on September 20 at Maulana Maududi Conference Hall, Guwahati. Among the recipients of the Scholarships 19 are girls and 11 are boys. Before distribution of cheques, written undertaking is taken from the boys not to take dowry at the time of their marriage and girls are told not to get marry with the boys who demand dowry.

The programme was attended by Dr. Muhammad Ali and Mr. Muhammad Kutty Bava from Kerela as Chief Guests. The other dignitaries attended in the programme was Muhammad Shafi Madni, Secretary, Social Service, Jamaat-e-Islami, New Delhi, Md Abdul Hashim, Senior Advocate, Guwahati High Court, Mr Sirajul Hussain, Secretary, National Integration Department, Govt. of Assam, Er. Israfil Hussain, Faculty Member, Royal Group of Institute, Guwahati and many others. The programme was presided over by Md Kefayatullah, President, JIH, Assam and convened by Dr Dewan Nazrul Qadir, Regional Coordinator, HWF, Assam.
