Hyderabad Police have registered an FIR against S Balachander, a Booth Level Agent (BLA) linked to the BJP. The case relates to Form-7 applications seeking deletion of 30 Muslim voters from one family in the Musheerabad area. It is the first FIR connected to Form-7 complaints in the city. Police are examining the circumstances in which the applications were submitted.

A Congress-associated BLA, Mohammed Shafuddin, raised the complaint. He alleges someone submitted pre-printed Form-7 applications carrying his details and those of 29 family members. The forms stated the family had ‘permanently shifted’.

Shafuddin has worked as a BLA for two months. He assists the Election Commission in the ongoing SIR exercise. A Booth Level Officer informed him about the applications. “I immediately rushed there and found a pre-printed Form-7 carrying our details,” he said.

Shafuddin alleges a BJP-linked BLA known to him submitted the forms. “It is shocking that my name and the names of my family members have been submitted for deletion,” he said. He demanded strict action.

Local Congress leader Wajid Hussain described the party’s steps. The party first complained to the Chief Election Commissioner. No response came. Party members then approached Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar and sought action.

Shafuddin’s brother Mohammed questioned the claim of relocation. The family has lived in the same house and locality for nearly 80 years.
